FORNEY, Texas — The North Forney High School Falcons dropped their season-opener at City Bank Stadium on Friday night to Frisco, 20-13.
The Falcons looked more focused coming into the game with big completions on key plays but lost steam while down 7 late in the 4th quarter.
North Forney was first on the board with a 37-yard field goal by Nathaniel Diaz with 2:33 on the clock in the 1st quarter. A punt on their first possession was fumbled by Frisco and recovered by the Falcons which resulted in some key yardage. The Falcons followed it up with a double-reverse handoff for an 18-yard gain that set up the field goal.
Just over a minute later, Frisco contested with a 56-yard pass from Rohan Vasa to Christian McCorry to take the lead, 7-3
Midway through the 2nd quarter, Colby Suits connected with Khari Dickinson on a 58-yard touchdown pass. Frisco drove the ball on their next possession on a series of eight plays for another Frisco touchdown and would hold on the game going into halftime at 13-10.
Early in the 3rd quarter, North Forney fumbled on their own 22 yard line which allowed the Raccoons to scamper in on three plays for another touchdown. North Forney would go on to add another 3 points on the board with another Diaz field goal, ultimately losing 20-13.
North Forney amassed 227 total yards to Frisco’s 196. Offensively, quarterback Colby Suits threw 24 passes and completed 11 (45.83 percent) for 145 yards and one touchdown. The Rushing yards were split among several players including Kiland Beck (29), Aalerian Henry (27), Kyle Hogwood (21), Willie Thomas (8), and Jermaine Gardner (8).
Khari Dickinson led the receiving yards with 96 yards on four receptions and one touchdown. Lorenzo Wright tacked on 34 yards and Kyle Hogwood added 16.
Next week, the Falcons will continue non-district play against Frisco Lone Star High School in Frisco at 7:30 p.m.
