FORNEY, Texas (Forney Independent School District, Zach Geer) — The North Forney High School Falcon freshmen football team dropped the season opener against Frisco High School, 30-17.

The Falcons started off the game slow, going down 14-0 at the half.

But, the Falcon offense charged back, led by Quarterback Jaylin Smith, who took an 18-14 lead going into the 4th quarter. Smith rushed for three touchdowns in the 3rd quarter, behind the offensive line anchored by tackles John Taylor and Camron Rogers.

The defense stepped up in the 3rd quarter and made two HUGE 4th down stops to get the offense back on the field. The defensive effort was led by cornerback Roby Robinson, both inside linebackers Chris Gonzales and Devin Francois, and outside linebacker Hayden Shipley.

The Frisco Raccoons took control of the game when the Falcons fumbled the ball inside the red zone. The Falcons never stopped fighting until the final whistle, unfortunately falling short. The overall effort on Thursday was very encouraging and this group of Falcons has a bright future.
