North Forney High School's MaKayla Durham won the 4A State Championship in powerlifting at the state meet on March 15, 2013. The state meet was held in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Durham bench pressed 220 lbs, squatted 550 lbs, and lifted 330 lbs in the dead lift for a total of 1,090 lbs.
Four other female athletes from Forney High School placed in the Top 10 in their weight divisions for powerlifting. Alexis Johnson took 4th place, Jordan Romo took 6th place, Faith Francis took 9th place, and Sara Branton took 9th place.
