North Forney High School was first to score in the first quarter, briefly lost their lead in the second quarter, and soared to a victory in the third and fourth quarters — holding the Mustangs to their two first-half touchdowns.
The Falcons amassed 415 total yards and held the Mustangs to 126 with Colby Suits throwing for 296, 4 touchdowns, and rushing for another.
Suits connected with Khari Dickinson on a 67-yard pass for a touchdown with 8:30 remaining in the first quarter to start the scoring for the Falcons. On the Falcons next possession, Carrollton’s Aaron Davis intercepted a Suits’ pass and returned it 41 yards to tie the scoring with 4:43 left in the first quarter.
The Mustangs finished an 11-play drive on a Marquell Phillips 1-yard rushing touchdown to take a second quarter lead with 9:36 on the clock. The Falcons contested the Mustangs final touchdown of the night six minutes later on a 40-yard Suits pass to Jayden Barrel. The Mustangs blocked the PAT attempt to keep a brief lead over the Falcons.
With :20 left in the first half, Suits connected with Barclay Ford on a 7-yard touchdown reception to regain the lead for the Falcons.
Suits would rush for a 50-yard touchdown in the third quarter and connect with Jackson Ennels in the fourth to bring the scoring to 33-14 on the night — moving the Falcons to 2-0 on the season.
The Falcons next non-district matchup is scheduled for Friday, September 9, 2016, against Spruce at Pleasant Grove Stadium before their first district matchup against Wylie East the following week.
