FORNEY, Texas — The North Forney High School (12-1) softball team clinched their second-straight District Championship title with a 7-0 shutout win over second-ranked Mesquite Poteet High School (9-4) on Tuesday night.

With the shutout win over Poteet, the team has forced three straight shutout wins before their final district matchup against cross-town rival Forney High School (7-5) with a 15-0 shutout win over West Mesquite and an 18-0 shutout win over South Garland last week.

The Falcons went 7-0 against Poteet behind the arm of pitcher Andrea Decareau who threw 95 pitches in seven innings allowing only three hits and striking out six.

The Falcons put two runs on the board in the top of the first inning which became the only scoring until the 7th inning when the Falcons sealed the shutout with five additional runs.

Brooke Taylor and Alexas Watson led the Falcons’ offense with Taylor hitting a home run in the seventh inning and three total RBIs on three at-bats. Watson also hit three RBIs with three at-bats as well as a double.

“With just one game left in regular season, the program remains hungry and looks to beat Forney and roll into a long post-season run,” Assistant Coach Brittany Lee stated on the district’s website.
