FORNEY, Texas — The North Forney High School softball team defeated Wylie High School in the area-round playoffs to become Area Champions on Saturday.
The Falcons went two-and-out in their best-of-three series against Wylie on Friday and Saturday.
On Friday, North Forney swept Wylie 11-0 and bringing the game to an early end. Saturday morning, Wylie fought back in hopes of clinching a Game 3 in the series but came up short in a 15-9 loss — sealing North Forney High School’s Area Championship and a move to the regional quarterfinals.
The Falcons will face The Colony in a one-game matchup at Plano East High School on Friday, May 13, 2016, at 7:30 p.m.
The Colony is coming off a best-of-three series win over Forney High School in area-round. The Colony won Games 1 and 3 by scores of 4-3 and 6-5 and lost Game 2 by 6-5.
