The Pride Football Club of Forney will be the host team for the inaugural Youth Cotton Bowl Classic this Saturday, October 19, 2013, at the State Fair of Texas. The inaugural games will feature teams from all over north Texas and teams from Moore, Oklahoma.

The Moore, Oklahoma, teams were invited in remembrance of the EF5 tornado that struck Moore earlier this year. "We thought this would be a great time to reach out to the coaches and volunteers responsible for mentoring the youth of Moore to provide an event that would overshadow the tragic day when Moore was hit by a F5 tornado. We are hoping to provide the kids a positive memory as they get to play football in the Cotton Bowl, in Dallas Texas, during the State Fair of Texas just one week after the Texas OU game,” stated Pride Coach Don Vrana. “It has proven to be everything we expected with teams already submitting requests for invitations for the 2014 date.”

The teams representing Texas in the Oklahoma-vs-Texas themed event a week after the Texas vs. OU Red River Rivalry game are from Rockwall, Hurst, Euless, Bedford, Red Oak, Ennis, Duncanville, DeSoto, Mansfield, Wylie, and Forney's Pride Football Club. Kickoff for the first game will be 8:00 a.m. and games will run throughout the day until the last game scheduled for 9:00 p.m.

“The Youth Cotton Bowl Classic provides a great opportunity for the finest teams to come together for a tune-up prior to their league Super Bowls in one of the most historic football venues on the planet,” said Vrana. “Players will have a chance to experience the history of the game up close and personal and step on the same field as some of the all-time greats, like Doak Walker, Bob Lilly, Earl Campbell and Adrian Peterson.”

The Cotton Bowl once served as the home field for the Southern Methodist University Mustangs, the Dallas Texans, the Dallas Cowboys, and serves as the current venue for the Red River Rivalry and Heart of Dallas Bowl. “It is impossible to overstate the history made on this field,” said Vrana.

Local companies The Hole Thing Donuts and Treats and IAQM Family of Companies join national sponsors Papa John's Pizza, the Ewing Body Shop, English Color & Supply, and the Hilton Anatole Hotel in presenting this historic game at the Cotton Bowl.
