North Forney — Despite equally impressive stats, the North Forney Falcons (0-2, 1-4) dropped their homecoming matchup to fellow District 12-5A opponent Royse City (1-1, 3-2), 38-13.
Royse City would take an early lead — scoring 18 uncontested points before North Forney levied a field goal in the 2nd quarter. Royse City and North Forney traded touchdowns before the half and went into the locker rooms with Royse City leading 24-10 at half.
North Forney looked poised to close the scoring gap starting the 3rd quarter off with a long, 24-play drive to the Royse City 6-yard line but came up short and settled for a field goal. North Forney lost steam and wouldn’t score again on the night and allowed Royse City to capitalize on two more touchdowns in the 4th quarter.
Royse City accumulated 428 yards to North Forney 395 with 17 first downs to 24 first downs, respectively. Both teams had their share of mistakes including seven penalties and three fumbles, two for a loss, for Royse City and nine penalties and four fumbles, one for a loss, for North Forney.
Khari Dickinson scored the Falcons lone touchdown on a 24-yard reception and Nathaniel Diaz put up the Falcons’ other six on two field goals.
North Forney will next play Rockwall-Heath at City Bank Stadium on October 9, 2015, at 7:30 p.m.
