Softball: North Forney clinches District Championship title with win over Forney

FORNEY, Texas – The North Forney High School softball team (24-3-2 overall, 13-0 district) clinched the title of District 10-4A District Champions on Tuesday night, April 15, 2014, with their 9-4 win over crosstown rivals Forney High School (7-12 overall, 6-6 district).

FORNEY, Texas – The North Forney High School softball team (24-3-2 overall, 13-0 district) clinched the title of District 10-4A District Champions on Tuesday night, April 15, 2014, with their 9-4 win over crosstown rivals Forney High School (7-12 overall, 6-6 district).

The North Forney softball team remains undefeated in district play this year with their final district matchup against second-ranked Mesquite Poteet (18-12 overall, 11-2 district) on Thursday night to finalize regular season play. That game will be played at the Mesquite Softball Complex at 7 p.m.

"Forney came ready to play as we expected being a crosstown rival," said Head Coach Scott Delozier. "It was a great win because it was senior night and it clinched the district title for us."

North Forney scored 9 runs on 8 hits. Peyton Hedrick led the Flacons offense with a home run and a double. North Forney's Taylor Sieber also knocked one out of the park and Blake Bennett smacked a double.

Forney High School scored 4 runs on 5 hits. Forney High School's Gafford hit a double and Barrientos hit a triple.
