FORNEY, Texas – The North Forney Lady Falcons are only five games into district play but already have their sights on playoffs – and for good reason.

The Falcons are currently leading District 10-4A with a 5-0 record. The Falcons have nearly scored double digits in each of their district matchups and have yet to be scored on – allowing only five hits. According to MaxPreps.com, the Falcons are ranked 12th in Texas and nationally ranked 49th.

β€œThe girls are prepared for this season,” said North Forney Falcons Softball Head Coach Scott Delozier. β€œThey put in a really tough off season and worked hard both physically and mentally.”

The Falcons current overall season record is 16-3 with two ties and they competed in three preseason tournaments in Forney, Allen, and McKinney. β€œWe played a tough non district schedule to prepare them for some tough district games and for a tough road through the playoffs,” said Delozier.

With nine district matchups left, Delozier said he has a close-knit group of seniors looking to leave their mark before graduating. β€œThey used the end of last season as motivation and have really been focused so far,” he said. β€œI really look forward to the rest of the season.”

In district, the Falcons have defeated Carollton Creekview 10-0, Terrell 15-0, Highland Park 9-0, West Mesquite 18-0, and Carrollton Newman Smith 18-0. One of their toughest matchup of the season is Friday, March 21, 2014, against crosstown rival and third-ranked Forney High School (4-1) at Forney High School at 7 p.m.

After their game against Forney, the Falcons will host second-ranked Mesquite Poteet at home on Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at 7 p.m.
