TERRELL, Texas — The Terrell High School Tigers (2-1) claimed a 45-16 home-game victory over former Class 5A opponent Forney High School (2-1) on Friday night at Memorial Stadium in Terrell.
Despite the drop to UIL Class 4A, Terrell gave Forney a painful reminder of last year’s 55-39 loss at City Bank Stadium with another hard-fought defeat in Terrell on Friday night.
Terrell grabbed 17 uncontested points in the first quarter on a 58-yard touchdown run by Elijah McQueen, a 33-yard field goal from Bryan Lara, and a 23-yard rush by Kanodrick Richardson.
Forney’s Aaron Rideaux, who would lead the Jackrabbits offense on the night with 120 yards and a touchdown, scampered for an 83-yard touchdown run in the second quarter to bring the score to 17-7.
Terrell would go on to score 4 more uncontested touchdowns in the second and third quarters with McQueen rushing for 2, 9 and 1 yard, respectively, and Nekeyvlon Morris with a 20-yard interception return for a touchdown, and De’Garian Fuller on a 35-yard rush.
Forney fought for an additional 9 points in the fourth quarter on a safety and Austin Ream 3-yard touchdown run.
Terrell forced 4 turnovers on the night — ultimately putting a stop to any Jackrabbit momentum.
The Jackrabbits accumulated 206 total yards on the night, led by Aaron Rideaux. Other offensive notables include Jaylon Hutchings with 21 yards on 2 carries, Ream with 18 yards on 6 carries and a touchdown, Devon Rideaux with 17 yards on 6 carries, and Sean Stephens with 16 yards on 2 carries. Zach Mahan caught 2 passes for 16 yards and Ream caught 1 for 11 yards.
Of the Tigers 324 total yards, Tiyea Zanders threw for 81 yards and touchdown and rushed for another 25 yards on 11 carries. McQueen led the Tigers offense with 97 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns and 9 yards receiving and another touchdown.
