Terrell remains undefeated with 28-25 district-opener win over North Forney

FORNEY, Texas – Terrell High School (4-0, 1-0) remains undefeated for the season after a 28-25 district-opener win over North Forney High School (1-3, 0-1) at Forney's City Bank Stadium on Thursday night, September 25, 2014.

North Forney started off the scoring with a 60-yard touchdown pass from Hunter Herndon to Kobie Jeffereson with 8:02 remaining in the first quarter which gave the Falcons an early 7-0 lead. Terrell answered with a touchdown of their own on their next possession on a 1-yard Klayton Henderson rush.

On the Falcons next possession, Derrick Mosley returned the kickoff 67 yards to the Terrell 19-yard line – setting Hunter McClain up for a 46-yard field goal with 2:36 remaining in the first quarter.

Terrell fumbled early in the second quarter and North Forney recovered it for a touchdown which was later called back due to a Falcons holding penalty. After a failed Falcon series, Terrell's Dawonya Tucker rushed for a 35-yard touchdown, bring Terrell into a 14-10 lead.

On the Falcons next possession, Hunter Herndon threw an interception which Terrell was able to capitalize on with an additional touchdown by Davarious Gardner who recovered Terrell's second fumble on the night in the end zone.

Just before halftime, Terrell fumbled again and this time Forney was able to capitalize after Christian Duke recovered the fumble and ran it in for a 32-yard touchdown with 2:11 remaining in the half.

North Forney went into the locker rooms down 21-17.

Terrell received the ball in the third quarter and, after a 17-play drive, scored on a 1-yard Klayton Henderson rush, bringing the scoring to 28-17 in Terrell's favor.

It wasn't until the last minutes of the fourth quarter that North Forney recovered another Terrell fumble and scored again on an 11-yard Herndon pass to Darius Palmer. Herndon rushed for two yard for a successful two-point conversion to bring the game back to a three-point game with 2:19 remaining in the game. Unable to close the gap, Terrell walked away with the 28-25 win.
