TERRELL, Texas – The Terrell High School Tigers (3-0) marked their first win in their recently renovated Terrell Memorial Stadium on Friday night, September 12, 2014, in a non-district matchup against District 8-4A Div. 1 foe Kaufman High School (0-3).
TERRELL, Texas – The Terrell High School Tigers (3-0) marked their first win in their recently renovated Terrell Memorial Stadium on Friday night, September 12, 2014, in a non-district matchup against District 8-4A Div. 1 foe Kaufman High School (0-3).
On the night, Terrell totaled 224 yards in total offense, 205 rushing and 19 passing, compared to Kaufman's 134 total yards, 119 passing and 15 rushing.
Kaufman took the early lead in the first quarter after Desmond Williams intercepted a Damon Moss pass and returned it for an 81-yard touchdown. A sea of red roared after Kaufman's point-after attempt was blocked by Terrell defenders.
Terrell's defense held Kaufman in the second quarter, setting up two scoring drives for the offense after short punts by Kaufman. Moss scored Terrell's first touchdown on a 9-yard rush and followed it up with a Devin Cobern run for the two-point conversion. Terrell's next touchdown came off a Dawonya Tucker 22-yard run, Luis Campos' point after attempt was completed.
Terrell went into the half with a 15-6 lead over Kaufman. Neither team was able to score in the second half of the game and the halftime score became final.
In addition to a touchdown, Terrell's Dawonya Tucker accumulated 103 rushing yards on 23 attempts and 11 receiving yards on 3 receptions.
Terrell and North Forney will both have a bye week next week before their matchup at City Bank Stadium in Forney, Texas, on September 25, 2014, at 7 p.m.
