Vaughn confirms verbal commitment to OSU with National Letter of Intent signing

FORNEY, Texas β€” Forney High School senior Brendan Vaughn recently confirmed his verbal commitment to Oklahoma State University (OSU) by signing a National Letter of Intent on December 14, 2016.

FORNEY, Texas β€” Forney High School senior Brendan Vaughn recently confirmed his verbal commitment to Oklahoma State University (OSU) by signing a National Letter of Intent on December 14, 2016.

Before becoming eligible to sign his National Letter of Intent, Vaughn verbally committed to OSU while still a junior at Forney High School.

At the time, Vaughn was only in his second year of playing football and virtually flew under the radar, something his father, Sidney Vaughn, said would only last for so long before someone noticed his ability, size, and potential.

OSU Coach Dan Hammerschmidt saw that potential in Vaughn in a brief Forney High School campus visit and invited him to Junior Day at Oklahoma State University.

According to Vaughn, he received an offer shortly after his visit to which he accepted and will likely fill the position of outside linebacker for the Cowboys.

Vaughn says he’s always wanted to be a Cowboy so the signing of the National Letter of Intent was β€œicing on the cake.”

Sidney says school officials recently notified him that Brendan is the first football player in Forney High School history to graduate early and be committed to play at a Power Five conference school.

β€œMy main thing right now is to train and get ready for the college offseason,” Vaughn told inForney.com. β€œI know it'll be hard and I want to make sure I'm ready.”

Vaughn says much of the intimidation associated with the high school-to-college football move has been alleviated because he has already met a lot of his teammates.

β€œI am very excited to start the next chapter of my life,” he said.

Brendan will make the trip to Stillwater, Oklahoma, on January 14, 2017, according to Sidney.
