KAUFMAN, Texas — A Kaufman senior linebacker took the “tip drill” to new heights by tipping a misdirected Gainesville pass to a fellow teammate with his foot — a video of the play, see below, has now gone viral.
The incredible play, dubbed the #KickPick by the Kaufman Independent School District ROAR TV crew, was completed during the Kaufman High School Lion’s season-opener against Gainesville.
The Lions ultimately defeated Gainesville 48-14 but the “#KickPick” interception was more impressive than the one-sided scoreboard.
Linebacker Hank Makerney read a short pass, outstretched his leg, and tipped the ball off his foot into teammate Izaiha Starling’s direction. Starling solidified the once-in-a-lifetime play by intercepting the tipped ball.
The Lions will host Fairfield for the home-opener on Friday night, September 4, 2015, at 7:30 p.m. The district has released a traffic flow and designated parking map, seen here.
