Volleyball: 16 aces help North Forney grab big win against Carrollton Newman Smith

“North Forney went into Carrollton Newman Smith needing a big win and they came home with one,” said North Forney Volleyball Head Coach Ray Kramer. The Lady Falcons traveled to Carrollton, Texas, on Tuesday night, September 24, 2013, for their fourth district matchup.

North Forney is now 2-2 in district play and 5th in their district of 8 teams with the win. The Lady Falcons beat Carrollton Newman Smith in 4 games after losing the first set. Game 1 was lost 17-25 and the last three games were won 25-23, 25-15, and 25-22.

“The Lady Falcons came together to play hard after dropping the first set, winning the next three in a row to finish the night,” said Kramer.

The North Forney JV team lost 25-18 and 25-8. The North Forney Freshman team also lost 25-19 and 25-19.

The girls racked up an impressive 16 aces in the 4 games. Player highlights include ace team leader Cierra Harris with 6 aces, 8 kills, 4 digs, and also lead the team with 3 blocks. Peyton Hedrick amassed 27 digs and 10 kills. Taylyn Cantu had 5 aces, 4 kills, and 8 digs. Breanna Powell had 20 digs and 1 kill. Morgan Fischer had 10 digs, 8 kills, and 2 aces.

Because of North Forney High School's homecoming football matchup with Terrell High School on Friday night, September 27, 2013, the North Forney Varsity volleyball game against Terrell will be moved back to 5:30 p.m.
