Volleyball: Lady Jackrabbits move past Mesquite Poteet in 3-2 win

Mesquite, Texas – The Forney High School Lady Jackrabbits move into 2nd place in District 10-4A standings with a 3-2 away-game win over the Mesquite Poteet Lady Pirates on Friday night, October 4, 2013.

Mesquite, Texas – The Forney High School Lady Jackrabbits move into 2nd place in District 10-4A standings with a 3-2 away-game win over the Mesquite Poteet Lady Pirates on Friday night, October 4, 2013.

With the win, the Lady Jackrabbits are now 5-2 in district play. The Lady Jackrabbits lost the first set against the Pirates, 25-22. They answered the loss with wins in the second and third sets, 25-19 and 25-16. The Pirates tied the series with a 25-23 win in the fourth set. The Jackrabbits doubled down on the Pirates in the fifth set 15-7 to win the series 3-2.

Stats have not yet been provided but, according to the Forney ISD Athletics Facebook page, Jackrabbits Megan Murphy finished the night with 9 kills, equalling her highest kill total for the year. McKenzie Black led the team in digs with 23. Jordan Yates tallied 16 digs and 16 kills. Lexie Lane had 12 kills and 6 blocks. Jessica Tennis executed 9 kills.

The Lady Jackrabbits next game is at Forney High School on October 8, 2013, against West Mesquite (1-6).
