FORNEY, Texas — North Forney High School swept fellow District 12-5A competitor West Mesquite High School on Tuesday night and Terrell High School last Friday night.
En route to their 3-0 victory over West Mesquite, senior Breana Powell was named Player of the Match by North Forney High School Volleyball Head Coach Ray Kramer. “[She] did a little bit of everything right tonight,” he said.
The Falcons punched holes in the Wranglers defense with 40 total kills on the night with sophomore Taylyn Cantu accounting for 10 of those kills. The Falcons went 25-14 in the first two set and 25-8 in the final set.
As Player of the Match, Powell racked up 18 digs, 5 kills, 4 aces, and 1 solo block. Cantu, who also performed well, had 10 kills, 5 digs, 2 aces, and a solo block. Other top performers include Charmece King with 10 digs, 7 kills, and 2 aces and Eryn Bearden with 10 digs and 8 kills.
Last Friday, North Forney’s Madison Wheeler was named Player of the Match in a 3-and-out sweep of Terrell High School. “Madison led the team well, dishing out a ton of assists, and contributions with kills of her own as well,” said Kramer.
North Forney went 25-16, 25-20, and 25-13 in three sets against Terrell.
North Forney’s next matchup is against Royse City High School in Royse City, Texas, on Friday night, October 3, 2014, at 6:30 p.m.
