FORNEY, Texas — Wylie East (6-3, 4-2) amassed over 500 total yards en route to a 49-28 victory over Forney High School (3-6, 1-5) on Friday night at City Bank Stadium.

The two teams traded off touchdowns in the first and second quarter before Wylie East inched away in the final half of the game.

Forney’s Devon Rideaux completed a drive on a 1-yard run to start the scoring with 8 minutes on the clock. Wylie East answer approximately 4 minutes later on an Eno Benjamin 42-yard touchdown run.

Benjamin would go on to rush for 170 yards, three touchdowns, and another 44 yards receiving and a rushing touchdown.

Wylie East took the lead early in the second quarter on a Corey Eggins 18-yard rushing touchdown. The Jackrabbits answered just three minutes later on a Rideaux 17-yard rushing touchdown.

Three more touchdowns were score in the last three minutes of the half with Wylie East’s Corbin Johnson snagging a 26-yard rushing touchdown with 2:56 on the clock, Forney’s Breandan Vaughn catching a Rideuax pass for 30 yards and a touchdown with 1:31 on the clock, and Wylie’s Benjamin catching a Johnson 20-yard pass for the final touchdown of the half — sending Wylie into a halftime lead of 28-21.

Jaylon Hutchings scored the Jackrabbits only second half touchdown, rushing for 1 yard with 24 seconds remaining in the third quarter.

Wylie’s Ronald Smith caught a Johnson 50-yard pass for a touchdown with 10 on the clock in the third, Benjamin rushed for 22 yards and 1 yard in the fourth for two more touchdowns — bringing the final score in favor of Wylie, 49-28.

Rideaux passed for 169 yards on the night, one for a touchdown, and rushed for another 71 yards and two touchdowns. Rideaux also caught a Vaughn pass for 33 yards. Hutchins rushed for 84 yards, Austin Ream received for 76 yards, Vaughn for 65 yards, and Sean Stephens for 22 yards.

The Jackrabbits prepare for their final game of the season against cross-town rival North Forney High School (4-5, 1-5) in the 5th annual Unity Bowl next Friday at Forney’s City Bank Stadium.
